Hockey Canada is the national governing body for grassroots hockey in the country. Dedicated to growing the game at all levels, Hockey Canada has served as a voice for Canadians who share this love of hockey for over a century. As part of its roster of helpful mobile applications, Hockey Canada has introduced a new version of its concussion awareness app.
Hockey Canada first created a concussion app to provide all those involved with the game information on preventing, recognizing and responding to concussion injuries. The app contained educational articles and videos in four separate applications geared toward adults and children, in English and French. Hockey Canada worked with a third-party provider to manage the application.
By leveraging Xamarin’s platform and tools, Point Alliance worked with Hockey Canada to develop a new version of the mobile concussion app. The new app includes existing features such as adult and child content, video, a hospital finder, and a fun game featuring Hockey Canada’s mascot, Puckster.
Point Alliance also ensured the new concussion app included a few new enhancements. Hockey Canada’s new concussion application features a modern look and feel, with an intuitive design. The adult and child versions are consolidated into a single app to better manage content and improve efficiencies. Further, Point Alliance has utilized an intuitive native map with navigation abilities compatible with all device types for the hospital finder function. Lastly, by integrating the application content into Hockey Canada’s existing website content management system, Point Alliance was able to streamline Hockey Canada’s content into a single system, delivering a more time- and cost-efficient process.
